- Studied electrical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld; graduated as Dipl. -Ing. (FH) (1994)
- Studied to become a teacher at vocational schools at the University of Hanover (Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Sport); graduated with the 1st state examination (1996)
- Trainee teacher for the teaching profession at vocational schools at the Hanover Studienseminar; graduated with the 2nd state examination (1999)
- Subsequently worked as a teacher at BBS 4 (now BBS me) in Hanover
- Since 2002 teacher with special duties at the Institute for Sports Science at Leibniz Universität Hannover
- Doctorate at the Institute of Sports Science at Leibniz University Hannover (2010)
