ERASMUS – Academic Studies in Hanover

Welcome to our homepage for international students who are considering spending time abroad in Hanover. Studying at the Department for Sports Science at the Leibniz University of Hanover can be organized within the scope of the ERASMUS programme or via the German Academic Exchange Service. According to the student registration office of the Leibniz University of Hanover, “Free Mover” applications currently cannot be accepted.

ERASMUS-Agreements With Other Universities at Present

At present, our department cooperates with Universities in Coimbra, Las Palmas, Cracow, Poznan, Prague, Seville, Warsaw and Vienna. Our partnership with these universities consists of an exchange of students and lecturers.

What Exactly is ERASMUS?

SOKRATES is a programme of the European Union in order to encourage transnational cooperation in the educational sector. Among other things, SOKRATES promotes higher education (ERASMUS) and general education (COMENIUS). The major aim is to intensify cooperation between universities within Europe. Whereas at the beginning of the programme only member states of the EU as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway were allowed, nowadays most of the prospective candidate states are included.

  • You do not have to pay any tuition fees

  • You receive a monthly grant

  • Evidence of academic achievements are recognized by your home university

  • An interesting and wide range of courses is offered

Language Knowledge Required in Order to Study in Hanover

We strongly recommend international students to acquire a basic knowledge of the German language prior to their stay abroad in order to be able to actively participate in lectures as well as in everyday life.
